March 3, 2006, Newsletter Issue #115: Homemade Glass Cleaner
1
Tip of the Week
Try making this homemade glass cleaner as an easy and economical alternative to the store-bought variety. Pour 13 cups of warm water into an empty gallon container ( I use an empty gallon milk jug that has been well-rinsed.) Add to the warm water 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup ammonia, and 1 Tablespoon mild detergent (I use liquid dishwashing soap). Finally, add a few drops of blue food coloring to help it resemble the commercial glass cleaners and thereby avoid confusion in the family. Be sure to clearly label the container, and then pour some into a spray bottle for easy usage. Give yourself a little organizing help by also taping the recipe for the glass cleaner to the front of the container so you can easily have it handy when it’s time to make a new batch.
